M Y I N T R O ...
Hello! My name is Amit Bera. I am 24 years old. I am from India. My home town is Kharagpur which is in the state of West Bengal. Now probably you are wondering where is this town ? and is there any special thing about it ?. Those who are from India you can probably recognize it from the fact that one of the famous IITs (Indian Institute of Technology) which is IIT Kharagpur, is situated here in this town. Now those who are not from India, I just want to tell that the Kharagpur railway station is one of the longest railway stations in the world. I did my schooling from Kharagpur Silver Jubilee High School and masters from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata. I believe in doing research, exploring ideas and discovering new things. My constant and never ending motivation comes from my parents, Ajoy and Jhuma Bera. Except academics, I really love to play football, solving Rubik's Cube, Harry Potter Quizzing and watching all types of sports.
C U R R E N T S T A T U S
I have completed my 5 year integrated BS-MS (Bachelor and Master of Science) in Earth Sciences (Major) and Physical Sciences (Minor) from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata in July, 2020. I have worked with Prof. Supriyo Mitra for my ms-thesis which was focussed on Coda waves, attenuation and Tomography. The title of my theis is - "Seismic Attenuation Tomography of the Jammu and Kashmir Himalaya using Coda waves". I am currently trying to integrate the results with the local geology and tectonics of the Jammu and Kashmir Himalaya and doing an advance research on coda waves attenuation with Prof. Supriyo Mitra at Computational Seismology Lab, IISER Kolkata and also trying to publish my thesis work in a scientific journal. I am really keen to do a PhD and learn deeply in the field of Geophysics and contribute to it and make a social and global impact.
